I was at the softball field at 6:00, ready to pitch my first game. I was scared because I didn’t know what to do. The first pitch was a ball, it was too high. The second pitch—ball, it was too low. The third pitch—ball, it was outside. The forth pitch—BALL … UGG! I had just walked the first batter. I felt like I was going to cry. I was already nervous and that just made it worse.
I
looked over in the stands at my mom. I could tell she was hoping for me to
throw a good ball.
I took
a deep breath and threw the ball. I knew it was a good because the batter hit
it. I was happy that it was a good throw, but I didn’t like the other team
scoring a run.
I
started to finally calm down, and I wasn’t nervous any more. Then the third
batter came up to the plate. I threw the first pitch, she swung and missed! I
threw the second pitch, she missed again—STRIKE 2. I knew I just needed one
more good pitch, and I could get her out. I took a deep breath and looked over
at my mom. I thought to myself “Come on Ella, YOU CAN DO THIS!” I threw the
ball. The umpired yelled, “STRIKE 3, YOU’RE OUT!!!
I was
so happy!! Everything that happened after that is almost a blur because I was
so excited. Even though we lost the game, I was very proud of myself and I had
a good time. I will never forget my first throw.
